John, Alicia, and everyone at Elmer's Garage have been wonderful in solving and fixing various issues with my Chevy Sonic. They are so kind and understanding, especially when my battery died when I was at the vet with 2 of my dogs and had a total meltdown! I moved to Rochester from Utah back in October. My dad used to be my mechanic and was a mechanic most of my life. Since moving to Rochester, I've been to Elmer's Garage twice and talked to my dad after each visit about the issues they said I had and what they charged me. They have incredible service, reasonable pricing, and get the job done! Even though he's still all the way back in Utah, my dad approves, and I am happy I found a regular mechanic out here :)

What I appreciate about Elmer's is that they're very upfront about what they can/will do in a day, and keep you informed about any additional issues that might come up during the repair. i just got my wife's minivan, initially for taking off snow tires and replacing the worn front struts. Turned out that the tie rods and rear shocks needed replacing, and it needed the annual inspection. I thought that would mean that they'd need to keep the car overnight, but it was done at 4:30pm. The price was reasonable, and I know they're just down the block from me if I have any problems or questions.

I called to ask for pricing on an oil change and mentioned that I was calling around to compare rates. The man I spoke with literally said, “If you’re price matching, I’m not interested,” and refused to provide any pricing at all. In this economy, comparing prices is just being a smart consumer — so that response was shocking and completely unprofessional. The refusal to even give a basic quote gave me the impression that this is the kind of place where you drop your car off for a simple oil change and suddenly you’re being told a thousand other things are wrong. That alone made me decide I would never bring my vehicle here. I’m not interested in a response from the business — the interaction told me everything I needed to know. - ** UPDATED April 2026** Thanks for not disputing my review and instead focusing on the reviews i so honestly provided in the past! I find it refreshing that you're aware of your poor service and other reviews from others that support my claim. Thank God i didn't let you lay a finger on my luxury vehicle. I'm sure you would have messed it up even more just like you did the others... so yes, add ELMER'S to the list of POOR SERVICE PROVIDERS that I and M

Elmer’s Garage is one of the best places in the business in Monroe County. I trust them unequivocally. The technicians and mechanics are very thorough, trustworthy, and professional. The Owner and Service Manager John and Johnny have a really awesome grasp of Customer Service. They’ve earned my loyalty from their attention to detail, diligence, and reliability!
